Favorite Spot Friday: Busch Gardens Tampa

In the Spring in Tampa, there is much to do. I had never visited the Tampa area prior to moving there and I was SO SHOCKED at the variety and amount of FUN in the immediate area.
We bought season passes to Busch Gardens, which also had Adventure Island Water Park and Sea World as an added package!
Busch Gardens Tampa was very close to our house and SO MUCH FUN. Above is my little man on our first visit. Look how little he was!

With the pass, we could go on an afternoon or evening for a few hours and we really enjoyed doing this. The park was huge and offered so many things- from a wonderful African Safari adventure to thrilling roller coasters.

In 2005, Busch Gardens Africa introduced the world to a one-of-a-kind experience: 200 feet up, 90 degrees straight down. And that was just the beginning. As the nation’s first dive coaster, SheiKra raised the bar with first-of-a-kind elements like a true 90-degree drop, an Immelmann loop and a second vertical dive into an underground tunnel. Now, technology has raised that bar even higher, introducing SheiKra’s fans to an even greater thrill. In June 2007, Busch Gardens reintroduced SheiKra to the world with a new twist: “floorless” cars that allow riders an unobstructed view of the 70 mph rush. The name SheiKra evokes the power and speed of an African hawk as it twists and plunges - giving riders a 70 mph, adrenaline-pumping experience like no other. At 200 feet, SheiKra takes the crown as Florida's tallest roller coaster.
The newly opened Shiekra was a thrill- although do not wear a ruffled, tiered top or your picture of your upside down flip will be a site for sore eyes---- yes I did this.
Rhino Rally is another one of my favorites. You climb on board a jeep on tracks to drive through the Serengeti Plain. It is a realistic adventure that takes a few surprise turns and plunges. My son actually thought the ride was malfunctioning as we careened into the river. It is very convincingly real and SO MUCH FUN.

There are great restaurants, wonderful shopping experiences outside the theme park souvenirs, with many nice clothing and trinkets from Africa.

There are shows, a Dragon Land play area that will keep kids busy for hours while you can sit and enjoy cool drinks!

There is the Beer House, with free beer, of course....

The Clydesdale's and many water rides to cool you off. There was this HUGE alligator that was always fun to look at....

Which is why Springtime is a great time to enjoy Busch Gardens-- because the South Florida heat starts quickly and even June gets too hot to spend the entire day at the park.

Crowds can be large and lines can get long, but if you go early and hit the big items first, you can spend the heat of the day relaxing in the Dragon Land falls!

sniff, sniff, this brought back such fond memories. I recall Bama was chosen to be the assistant in the bird shwo and how that thrilled that six year old boy to death! Such fun!
