Five For Friday : ReVived!

Image
I used to write 5 for Fridays each week when I first began blogging. I was inspired on my way to work this morning and wanted to share my inspirations this morning- since they have been HARD to come by recently. I am thankful. I am blessed. I was complaining because I didn't get enough sleep. My 5 year old is a night owl and tells stories to me until after 11 PM this week. My son has been lazy about his homework and the sink is full of dishes from, well, from a few meals back. I stopped at a red light by a convenience store in the pouring rain and was sighing because my morning had been so hectic and my life was so horrible. I had a million thoughts racing through my too crowded, preoccupied brain. I happened to look over and see an elderly lady, clutching a small bag she had purchased coming from the store. She was severely hunched over from scoliosis or some spinal disorder. It was pouring rain and her pace was very slow. She, I am sure, painfully and slowly made her wa

Who can Spend 80 Bucks on Shoes at a Candy Shop????.......Um, ME!

One of my favorite stops while traveling from the Gulf Coast home is Priester's Pecans. It is a huge building right off of I-65 in Ft. Deposit, AL, just south of Montgomery. Priester's has many things to offer- many reasons to stop.... For many reasons like: Chocolate Pecans Big windows that look into the candy and pecan kitchens Picture Frames Jewelry Cute toys and Gifts Chocolate Shoes and Shoes. I have had my eye on SwitchFlops, by Lindsay Phillips , for a while. So I purchased my kids some ice cream and shopped as they ate. I got one pair of shoes- comfy, springy flip-flops. And 3 interchangeable toppers for them- essentially 4 pair of shoes! The shoes themselves are a little pricier than the average 10 buck slides ( at around $30), but they are comfy, springy, just the right height-- and provide the bottom for infinite choices of top! I, of course, chose an animal print, a solid black and a silver metallic. The shoe came with a cute black and white polka-dot! So- for a lit

Enjoying Ourselves....

The Shed- Best BBQ on the Mississippi Coast

Our first stop to eat for Spring Break 09 was this little joint just outside of Gulfport , MS. The Shed When we pulled up, my son said....MOM, WE CAN'T EAT HERE! LOOK AT IT! But my husband had already checked the place out and said it was GREAT BBQ. I still was not feeling 100% or I would have snapped a bunch of pictures of the food and tasteful decor. But it was amazing BBQ. My 9 year old ate a whole rack of baby backs that fell off the bone. We sat outside on the spring day by the redneck wedding chapel and honeymoon suite. And, of course, my thoughtful husband bought me a tank top.

Blogging Fog Continues....

I was looking back over my blog post this year so far, and I have really written NOTHING. I mean tech reviews and pictures aside- no personal reflections, no deep insights. NOTHING. Why is that? I do not sponsor or participate in Swaps. No contests, giveaways, author signings. No book reviews or giveaways. And my faithful blogger friends, you know I used to comment often. I used to spend hours a day catching up on your world. And what, may you ask, is the difference? I started this blog as a stay home mom. I worked in education for 13 years before my daughter was born. And have stayed home a bit off and on since. I was always used to working, having deadlines and needing an outlet for my creativity in some orderly fashion. Blogging was perfect for me. I felt compelled to write and produce for my, you know, hundreds of readers. AND I LOVED IT. Still do. If you didn't know, I joined the working world again this school year. I am a technology specialist! Yes, really, I am. And ALL m
