Actually- my mother "made my name up."

Now with the wonder of the Internet, I can see that I am not the only person with the name, which is what I thought for the longest time.

In fact, there is a town in Pennsylvania with my name. I have been meaning to order a t-shirt.

Someone found my blog by googling my name with another last name- Craft. I will put it here so that next time they search- they will find my blog again!! ( It took them to the craft I did with my son's class for Valentine's!)

My mother had the same name - 1st and middle- of 5 other girls in her small high school graduating class. So she wanted me to have a name that no one else would have.

So far, I have never met another Charnita in person. Overall, I have liked having a unique name and gave my children unique ones as well. It is hard to name kids when you are in education for lots of years. Too many names conjure up unfavorable images.

Perhaps that is why my mother and I both chose unusual names for our kids.....
