Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson

Sundays at Tiffany's is a new book by James Patterson & Gabrielle Charbonnet released April 28th.

Although I was not invited to the book party at Tiffany's with the author, I did receive a copy from Hatchette Books as a wonderful Mother's day present.

This book is a love story- not a mystery like I usually expect from Patterson.

This love story is unique and intriguing from page one.

Jane is the 8 year old daughter of Vivienne Margaux, a famous movie producer- a strong, dominating mother who is seemingly too busy to be bothered by motherhood.

Sunday afternoons are a special time for Jane- time with her mother.

They have dessert at a fancy hotel, the St. Regis, and then shop for diamonds at Tiffany's each and every Sunday afternoon. Jane sits with Michael as her mother sits with whomever is more important than Jane on that given Sunday.

Michael is Jane's best friend- a handsome, comforting male presence in her life. They play games, people watch and laugh together as Jane enjoys a huge sundae to her mother's chagrin. Michael is her savior in a world where she seems forgotten. Michael is perfect....except for one thing. He is imaginary. On her 9th birthday, Michael tells her he must go because she is growing up and must face the world without him. She is heartbroken. He tells Jane she will never remember him.

Years later, as Jane grows into a woman still struggling to be a person separate from her mother, she finds herself sad and dissatisfied with her life and still feels alone.....

when she sees someone's comforting face in the crowd.

A handsome man she has cherished her whole life......Michael.

Sundays at Tiffany's is a story of love and life- a story of how people can be brought together in life and the timeless, life-changing power of true love.

The characters are vivid and memorable and the story makes you stop and think how anything in life may be possible.

With all the page-turning twists and turns of his mysterious plots, Patterson weaves a tale of love that will make you want to finish the story at one sitting- which I did.

The books ending makes you stop, close the book and think......

Just the way I like to feel when I finish a book....

Intrigued and inspired.

The whole concept of the book is a bit enchanting and fairy-tale like- I guess that is where Gabrielle, a children's author, helped Patterson.

Sometime I found myself questioning the story and wanting more concrete details, but all in all, I was able to immerse myself in the fantastical aspect and believe in the love on Jane and Michael.

In today's complicated, violence filled world, a simple beautiful fairytale designed for adults can be relaxing and heartwarming.

Which is exactly what I found this book to be.
