Prayer Request from an old, dear friend

Image
My first year out of college, while in graduate school, I worked in a local high school library to assist daily. The dear librarian there was diagnosed with cancer and the BOE hired me full time to assist. We had a senior student who was so amazing, that even as her "teacher"= we clicked. She was a smart, mature soul- beautiful inside and out. She was always a talented writer, still is. I recently discovered she was a blogger too. I have been following her and she me- LOVING the reconnection. I got an email from her today asking me to post her story on my blog. Brandy is rallying the prayer warriors for her baby. I know many of my loyal readers are faithful prayers..... So please, read the story at Brandy's blog and keep her precious family near to your hearts..... and let's help hold them up near to the hear of God in the next few months. http://doodleandbean.blogspot.com

Magnets!!!

Image
I have a stainless steel fridge and have hated that my magnets we have collected on travels and through the years were downstairs in the garage on the old fridge. I got a magnetic white board at Target this weekend and hung it in the hallway to the laundry room along with some travel photos. Turned out cute! Could that count as a thrifty Thursday, Leigh?? One at the bottom says "Mom's Mood!" and the kids have been running over all week moving the peg accordingly. I love it because it has many memories stuck on that board!

Five For Friday : ReVived!

Image
I used to write 5 for Fridays each week when I first began blogging. I was inspired on my way to work this morning and wanted to share my inspirations this morning- since they have been HARD to come by recently. I am thankful. I am blessed. I was complaining because I didn't get enough sleep. My 5 year old is a night owl and tells stories to me until after 11 PM this week. My son has been lazy about his homework and the sink is full of dishes from, well, from a few meals back. I stopped at a red light by a convenience store in the pouring rain and was sighing because my morning had been so hectic and my life was so horrible. I had a million thoughts racing through my too crowded, preoccupied brain. I happened to look over and see an elderly lady, clutching a small bag she had purchased coming from the store. She was severely hunched over from scoliosis or some spinal disorder. It was pouring rain and her pace was very slow. She, I am sure, painfully and slowly made her wa...

Who can Spend 80 Bucks on Shoes at a Candy Shop????.......Um, ME!

Image
One of my favorite stops while traveling from the Gulf Coast home is Priester's Pecans. It is a huge building right off of I-65 in Ft. Deposit, AL, just south of Montgomery. Priester's has many things to offer- many reasons to stop.... For many reasons like: Chocolate Pecans Big windows that look into the candy and pecan kitchens Picture Frames Jewelry Cute toys and Gifts Chocolate Shoes and Shoes. I have had my eye on SwitchFlops, by Lindsay Phillips , for a while. So I purchased my kids some ice cream and shopped as they ate. I got one pair of shoes- comfy, springy flip-flops. And 3 interchangeable toppers for them- essentially 4 pair of shoes! The shoes themselves are a little pricier than the average 10 buck slides ( at around $30), but they are comfy, springy, just the right height-- and provide the bottom for infinite choices of top! I, of course, chose an animal print, a solid black and a silver metallic. The shoe came with a cute black and white polka-dot! So- for a lit...

Enjoying Ourselves....

The things which the child loves remain in the domain of the heart until old age. The most beautiful thing in life is that our souls remain over the places where we once enjoyed ourselves. KAHLIL GIBRAN
