Who can Spend 80 Bucks on Shoes at a Candy Shop????.......Um, ME!

Image
One of my favorite stops while traveling from the Gulf Coast home is Priester's Pecans. It is a huge building right off of I-65 in Ft. Deposit, AL, just south of Montgomery. Priester's has many things to offer- many reasons to stop.... For many reasons like: Chocolate Pecans Big windows that look into the candy and pecan kitchens Picture Frames Jewelry Cute toys and Gifts Chocolate Shoes and Shoes. I have had my eye on SwitchFlops, by Lindsay Phillips , for a while. So I purchased my kids some ice cream and shopped as they ate. I got one pair of shoes- comfy, springy flip-flops. And 3 interchangeable toppers for them- essentially 4 pair of shoes! The shoes themselves are a little pricier than the average 10 buck slides ( at around $30), but they are comfy, springy, just the right height-- and provide the bottom for infinite choices of top! I, of course, chose an animal print, a solid black and a silver metallic. The shoe came with a cute black and white polka-dot! So- for a lit...

Black Friday... Shopping,Vampires and Shrimping

Image
Black Friday....was black dark outside as we began our day, my Yankee boy, brother and sister-in-law. We went 4 AM shopping and got some amazing electronics bargains for Christmas gifts. We only saw one redneck altercation and the rest of the folks were fun and happy shoppers. We then went to Starbucks and to the beach to watch the sunrise. Such a beautiful way to begin the day. I THEN went home and back to sleep for 3 more hours. Freddie Stewart of Bon Secour ’s Southern Heir Shrimp Boat attends church with my Mother and StepFather and we got the FRESHEST largest shrimp I have ever eaten from him to eat for dinner. We had a good old shrimp boil, with corn and baby potatoes. UMM UMM good. Thanks, Gramps for the hard work. The girls went to see Twilight !!!!! OH MY! I have to say I was disappointed. But I am always disappointed in a movie after a book. Too many details are left out. My sister read the book the night before....she was not as excited about the movie as we were, but ...

Gnome Hunt Loot

Image
Ok, Ok. So I didn't win the Golden Gnome Hunt. I am over it. Really. I am. But I did get myself some consolation prizes to help lessen the grief. The Biggest Tote Bag in the World, Animal print and Monogrammed just for me..... from Sew What . And a custom Name badge holder to match for my new official position---- (top secret clearance required.....) from Bead Biz , where Jess spent the day after the mad dash for clues. See what cute things you can get at our local little businesses??? Not a golden gnome, but will have to do. Oh and, Hewy did send me a Golden Gnome Piece of Flair on Facebook. Yet another consolation prize!

Tuesday Tidbits: By the time you are 40, there are some things you should know

Image
I have had a few things happen in the last week that have made me stop and think. You know as you get older you are supposed to learn lessons. And obviously some of us are slow learners and developmentally delayed when it comes to life. Lesson #1: When you have a child and are the female parent, you can never, ever take your eyes off of said child for any amount of time when father is out of town. Because if you do, even if your comfy lawn chair is sitting in the middle of your said 2 children, performing two different activities and you are strategically placed, dead center, as to watch both children simultaneously , ONE CHILD will get hurt. And that dear child will be all too happy to throw you under the bus while describing the accident to returning father. "It was because Mom was not keeping an eye on me." And really, do you know HOW people, including the father, look at you, when a precious little princess has a shiner, that looks worse, in many colors of black, blue, g...

Who PAYS $248 for a skirt?????

Image
Who pays $248 for a skirt??? No me. I just found a bunch of stuff on the clearance racks at Macy's (my favorite store.....well that I can afford.... forget Anthhropologie and Nordstroms, my real favs) and took them to a dressing room an tried things on. You know some days, nothing fits. But today everything fit!! I had $75 in gift cards and reward bucks and got even bigger savings, so HONEY, I saved us money. I got a beautiful hounds tooth slim skirt that is regularly $248!!!!!!!!!! for $48. Oh yes and that size says "0" as in ZERO, don't ya know! See there, saved two hundred dollars right there. And who is Ellen Tracy anyhow that her name on clothes cost so much???? I expect Versace for that much. But when Macy's friendly Johnnie rang things up, the original price shows up first then she scans again for a sale price. Talk about sticker shock. I do by some expensive clothes, but never that much for a SKIRT!!!!! I have been on the hunt for a good pair of jeans. ...

Tuesday Tidbits 2: Shopping, Show Tunes, Shrubs and John Bon Jovi!

Image
Oh another note, I got some clothes for the Bon Jovi Event at Macy's One Day Sale- that actually lasts 3 days- this weekend. 8 Days to Bon Jovi........ This is a perspective shirt for the Bon Jovi Concert. It is my favorite brand, INC International Concepts from Macy's. I adore their clothes, especially shirts. I have this other one that I am considering..... I had those wooden Dr. Scholls in my youth and I could not resist this sparkly pink pair. These are not for the concert, but the ballfield. They have plastic bottoms and a massagy feeling to the bottom of your foot. And a new pair of Flip Flops....can't have too many. Also, we are overhauling our landscaping. Let me say we are usually not do-it-yourselfers- especially not in the gardening area, so this is new for us. I did compliment my husband. He is as OCD as I am, whether he will admit it or not- just about different things. It bodes well for him in that he starts a project and finishes it....immediately. So, starte...

Wordy Wednesday!!

Image
Well, I finally am back to normal. Is that good or bad? I am eating normally and feel great. I have spring fever and have been cleaning and cleaning OUT! Isn't there a rule that for every pair of shoes you throw out, you get to buy 2?? I had a major closet cleaning - just in time to hit Macy's today. I only bought 1 t-shirt, 1 top and 1 pair of really cute jean shorts......No shoes. Yet. Flirty spring dresses were everywhere. I have my eye on one for BonJovi. I will go back alone so I can try some on. I took Baby girl with me shopping to the Galleria and, bless her heart, she couldn't even fall asleep last night for the anticipation ! She calls it the Playhouse Disney Mall since there is a Disney Store. Only, she opted not to go there, but instead conned me into Build-a -Bear Worshop. She had never done it and always eagerly looks at the store next to Disney. Since she has been so nice, I let her. She choose a sparkly pink limited edition bear and named it aptly SPARKLES. S...
