Friday Fright from Elvira

As a commitment to the new financial plan and as we are preparing to attend the Dave Ramsey event tomorrow, I have pledged my commitment to the cause in the best way I know how. I have not only destroyed all credit cards, but have COLORED MY OWN HAIR. Yes, the mega bucks budgeted into the Dave plan for haircare each month was equal to 3 eat outs! Think about it, coloring your hair- cooking 3 less meals a month. And let's face it, my hair can stand just about any color I choose to thrust upon it. If you have read my hair history you can attest to the fact that I am not immune to experimenting with hair color. In fact the little graphic below depicts the rainbow of colors I have sported in the past 12 months. So you may think that the hair color is no big deal AND I admit, it is insignificant in light of the whole world order. To me, it is just my display of commitment to changing. $120 vs. $10 And $10 was without the Winn Dixie card. I dug it out, got $4 off and my hair color cost m...

Hair History 102: Final Semester: 2004-2008-Exam-Evaluation

Image
Well, here is the final look at my hair history. I am not sure why moving to Florida made me not want to be a blond- because everyone there was blond and tan. I cut my hair off and colored it myself for the first time EVER in my life. Dark brown as it could go. I wasn't working, had moved away from home and I guess I was rebelling against .....what...I do not know. It has been growing, is highlighted, professionally again or is solid dark brown professionally again. So the saga continues. Only I will never color my hair at home again. So as some have commented, if I want to hide or become anonymous- I can just do another drastic hair changing act. In fact, I have since my profile picture was taken......just for john Bon Jovi. Oh the mystery...... Exam to be submitted in comments: 1. Can you put the collage in chronological order? ( I don't know that I could!!) 2. Which is the home color kit? (DUH) 3. Which hairstyle, overall, Posts 101-and both 102s, is your favorite? 4. Which...

Hair History 102: 1996-2004

Image
Well, on with the show. Although my hubby, who never reads my blog, decided to read it last night and said..."Hair History....you really need to get a job or something." Well, obviously, the male species does not realize the importance of hair and the fact women like to make fun of other women's past faux pas and make ourselves feel a bit better about our locks. Clearly, blogging about hair does not indicate some meaningless life that is not worth blogging about- nor does it indicate an unfulfilled life that needs employment . My goodness, my blog is just a culturally enriching experience, with a novel in progress, a Lebanese poet review, American Idol updates and now HAIR!! Just needed to clear that up for the male readers. I believe we were to permed and heavily highlighted circa 1996....... Up next....this atrocity that I can't believe I am posting. Not sure where exactly it fits but along the same dark period. I only put it up to show you that a 40 year old can su...

Thought for Thursday: Hair History 101

Image
I have resisted the nostalgic, soul baring blast from the past post as long as I can. Let me just say that I like so many mommy bloggers I have been reading, love clothes, hair, shoes.....and changing all those things constantly. My sister and I recently dug through old pictures- just going back 10 years and her comment was, from month to month, seeing what my hair color would be was the most fun. I have to admit, I was blessed with tons of thick hair, or else I would be bald, needing Rogaine or wearing ball caps and wigs. Surely only thick, super duper hair could withstand the torture and re-torture and yet more torture I have inflicted on my locks. Thus the reason I have resisted this subject. Denial. It will be a huge chore to give you a look at all the hair styles and colors I have sported, just in the last 18 years of my married life. But I am going to attempt it. No mommy blog is complete without a hair post...... First of all, a glimpse of my mousy brown, mullet-like original h...
